Program Objectives
Participants learn to:
- Recognize the causes, complications, and risk factors of shoulder dystocia as an
obstetrical emergency.
- Effectively identify, prepare for, and manage a shoulder dystocia event.
- Identify documentation requirements to ensure a thorough and credible medical record.
Overview
The online shoulder dystocia education program has been created over the course
of two years. It represents the work of the most educated and experience experts
in the field today. Our goal is to provide you with information and tools that can
help you to be prepared in the event of a shoulder dystocia emergency.

Michelle Hoppes
is a nationally recognized expert and leader
in patient safety, risk management and performance improvement.
Michelle has over 27 years of experience in the health care industry, with
the past 17 in the area of risk management.
Michelle specializes in providing customized services for health care providers
and organizations, with a focus on clinical risk management, human factors training,
just culture implementation, professional coaching, failure mode effects analysis,
root cause analysis, simulation and the evaluation and design of risk management
and patient safety programs. Michelle has completed the AHA/ASHRM leadership
program as a patient safety fellow and is currently serving as a Board member for
ASHRM.

Dr. Emily F. Hamilton, M.D. FACOG

Dr. Hamilton, VP of Medical Research at LMS Medical, is a pioneer in the development
of risk prevention and risk reduction programs in obstetrics. Using statistical
modeling and over 20 years of clinical experience she has created programs that
offer clinicians an objective second opinion. Her research has led to the development
of tools to identify risk of shoulder dystocia with injury, to assess arrest of
labor, to anticipate uterine rupture, and to interpret fetal heart rate tracings.
Dr. Hamilton is also an Adjunct Professor of OBGYN at McGill University. |

Dr. Henry Lerner, M.D., FACOG

Dr. Henry Lerner is an obstetrician-gynecologist in private practice in Newton,
Massachusetts. A graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Medical School, Dr.
Lerner has been practicing obstetrics since 1976 and has delivered over 8,000 babies.
Dr. Lerner's interest in shoulder dystocia developed both as a clinician and as
a medical-legal expert witness, having encountered approximately 100 cases in his
career. While he continues to deliver patients in his Newton clinic, he has also
joined the LMS team in order to spearhead acceptance of LMS’ clinical tools by obstetricians
world-wide. |

Wm. Michael McCullough, Jr., MD
Wm. Michael McCullough, Jr., MD, FACOG, has been practicing OB/Gyn in the Dayton,
Ohio area since 1986. Serving as his group's CEO and Managing Partner since 1993,
he continues to lead Oak Creek Ob/Gyn, Inc. through a growing market at three private
practice offices located in Kettering, Beavercreek, and Springboro. Dr. McCullough
graduated from The Ohio State University School of Medicine, and completed his Ob/Gyn
residency at Wright State University School of Medicine. He is presently pursuing
his MBA through The Raj Soin College of Business at Wright State University. He
also presently serves as the Ob/Gyn Dept. Chair at Kettering Medical Center. Dr
McCullough belongs to the Montgomery County Medical Association, Ohio State Medical
Association, the American Medical Association, and the SIE National Management Honorary
and Professional Society. |
